and played a game called “the balloons of friendship”

And a few words about our town...

Rethymno is one of the four bigger towns on the island of Crete, located in the middle of the northern coastline of Crete. Its population is about 50.000 people. The University of Crete is in Rethymno and its campus inlcudes Schools such as the School of philosophy, the School of Education (Primary and Preschool) and the School of Social, Economic and Political Sciences...and it has a great circular building for a library. The people of Rethymno are mainly involved in the tourism business. Rethymno has a beautiful old town with architectural influences from the Venetian and Turkish occupation years. From the top of Fortezza, the Venetian fortress, the visitor can enjoy the view of the sea and the 15km long beach - one of the longest beaches in Europe and home of the endangered species of Caretta-Caretta sea turtle. Additionally, the visitor can visit many picturesque villages near the town of Rethymno, where one can taste the delicious Cretan food and wine.

This is an aerial view of the old town with Fortezza overseeing the Cretan Sea…

and the old Venetian harbor.

We are all looking forward to meeting you.
Greetings from Rethymno and the 15th Primary School

Ukmergės Užupio basic school in Lithuania

Uzupio basic school is in the town of Ukmerge which is 70 km from Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Our school is one of the oldest schools in Ukmerge, near 400 pupils learn here.
Everyone is very friendly, helpful and supportive, so if you need any assistance you can definitely turn to them. Teachers are very professional and always eager to help their students acquire knowledge.
You can always find delicious and cheap meals in the canteen of our school.
The council of pupils is working to make sure the process of learning is not draining or mind-numbing, but fun too. There are unlimited possibilities to do sports and stay fit because we have a superb basketball court and football pitch and lots of various equipment.
There is also a wide range of after school activities and clubs to choose from, so you will never be bored. Besides, our school always celebrates different occasions and organizes various events or actions, so everyone is involved.

While carrying on the project only traditional ways of communication and learning would be used. There would be a try to communicate innovatively: using the language of acting, dance, part tools, organising video conferences and briges. It is planned to have a project diary which woulds be filled by countries - partners and which would be public for the others to use it in their future projects. ( the diary, would be public).
It's been 10 years since our dancing club is a constant participant in National Songs festival. We have participated in a project "The Impulses of high culture at schools(AKIM)" - the lessons were conducted by famous Lithuanian people: poets, painters, language experts, singers.
Interesting and useful projects are for raising of the career. The school is a member of national project "Why do we need it?"
The activity of prevention is increased in school. We take part in competitions "Temidė", " Non smoking class" regionaly and nationally. Various actions take place which are for the prevention of crime, drug usage and bullying. The school has been taking part in a continuaes project "Sportiad" for 5 years.
Festive concerts at school and otherwhere are not held without a joint team of songs and dances of the teachers and the students.
